THE CALL OF THE WILD is a US adventure drama, based on the novel by Jack London, in which a stolen dog must find his place in the wilds of the Yukon.

Violence

One man punches another and later shoots him during a struggle, resulting in a brief sight of blood. Two dogs tackle and bite each other during a fight, but without injury detail. A man strikes a dog with a wooden cosh, but the blow is shown only in shadow. In another scene a dog appears to kill a rabbit, with subsequent sight of the rabbit hanging limply from its mouth.

Threat and horror

Scenes include men threatening a dog with wooden coshes. In another scene a woman and a dog are swept under the ice of a frozen lake, but both survive unharmed.

Occasional scenes of emotional upset and bereavement are handled sensitively. Language is very mild (‘damn’, ‘hell’).
